Westminster Abbey

Westminster Abbey

England’s coronation church, a Gothic masterpiece filled with royal tombs and national memorials.
Westminster Abbey is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture and the spiritual stage for the United Kingdom’s most solemn ceremonies. Consecrated in 1065 and rebuilt in soaring Gothic style from the 13th century, it has hosted every English and later British coronation since 1066. Its chapels and cloisters hold the tombs and memorials of monarchs, poets, scientists and statesmen, earning it the name ‘the nation’s church’. Visitors admire its fan vaulting, stained glass and the historic Coronation Chair.
