The Roman Baths form one of the best-preserved ancient bathing complexes in northern Europe, built around Bath’s natural hot springs. Established in the 1st century AD, the site reveals layers of history: the Sacred Spring, Roman temple remains, and the Great Bath lined with original lead. Inside the museum, finely carved altars, curse tablets, coins and personal objects illuminate the religious and social life of Aquae Sulis, the Roman town that flourished here.
